W9LW’s Anytone AT-D878UV codeplug programming guide

I have created a guide to help users of the Anytone AT-D878UV handheld, DMR amateur radio create codeplugs for their radios.

The link below will provide the latest version of the document, which I have updated since publishing the original version. Version 2.65, uploaded January 29, 2023, adds advice on matching the CPS version to the firmware version.

Download the guide.

  1. Hello Jay, thank you very much for the guide to creating a repeater codeplug for the AT – D878UV. This proved very, very useful to me during the last few days. I gave into temptation just before Christmas and bought this radio. It arrived on the 29th and thanks to you’re guide I seem to have everything in place to get on the local repeater.

Very Best 73 & hope you have a happy and safe 2021.

    1. Thanks, John. I’m glad the document helped you. Perhaps we’ll hear each other sometime on TG 1 or 91. 73 de W9LW.

  2. Thanks for this Jay, I built my first CP. BM Parrot worked first time! I looked around for a CP to download to start with, but I’m glad I did this one from scratch. Still lots to learn.

    1. I’m so glad it worked out for you, Topp! Keep experimenting. There are many different ways to configure the radio. I only outlined what I think is the simplest.

  3. I’ve been a ham since 1995 but haven’t been active for a while Can anyone let me know if there are any cheat sheets to program, add codeplugs, and DMR operation. I’m 63 and am new to this new technology and hope someone can help me.

    1. Bruce, did you download and the the PDF file to which this article links? It might be the closest thing you’ll find to a “cheat sheet” on Anytone codeplugs.

  4. I just downloaded your codeplug file and skimmed it quickly. It is written for the at-878 ht. I have an at-578. Am I correct in assuming that, physical differences aside, the information will apply to both units equally?

    1. Tim, you are correct. The codeplugs for the two radios are the same in every respect described in my document.
