The U.S. House of Representatives has passed a bill that would require the National Weather Service (NWS) to devote a larger portion of its research budget to improving forecasts of tornadoes and hurricanes and increasing warning lead times.
The Senate has assigned H.R. 1561, the “Weather Research and Forecast Innovation Act of 2015″ to its Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation.

Nice. And while we’re at it, could we (the U.S. Congress) have more complete and accurate ‘flood’ forecasts, ‘drought’ outlooks and seasonal temperature/moisture anomalies on a scale ‘closer to home’? And then, we promise to begin acting like adults and find the middle ground on keeping the country running through various financial breakdowns (after our new pay and benefits package is voted on). smh
